AISI/SAE 1018 Carbon Steel Bar Description
AISI/SAE 1018 is a standard low-carbon steel grade known for its good balance of strength, ductility, and excellent weldability. Its composition primarily includes carbon and manganese, with controlled amounts of phosphorus and sulfur.
Carbon steel 1018 round bars are commonly used for shafts, pins, rods, spindles, sprockets, and a wide range of machined parts. It offers good machinability, producing hard, continuous chips, and can be easily formed into various shapes. In the cold-drawn condition, it provides a smooth surface finish and higher tensile strength.
